Antique DeMoulin Bros and Co. Secret Society Odd Fellows Mesh Ritual Mask 1890s.
Made by the DeMoulin Brothers factory in Greenville, Illinois in the late 1800s.
These masks were used for secret rituals and ceremonies by fraternal organizations and secret societies across the nation. From the “Masks of Nations” and “Race Costumes” section in their catalog from long ago (they stick to marching band uniforms now).
This mask measures about 12”x7” and is made of metal wire mesh, hand painted details and real animal hair of some sort. The hair is sewn on by hand.
This is a very old mask with some wear damage. Wear along the edging and some paint loss and possibly missing hair.
