    Description

An amazing handwritten Tombstone, Arizona document dated January 5, 1886.  This booklet, marked “Duplicate”
is the Annual Relief Report for the Cochise Lodge No. 5, I.O.O.F. (Independent Order of Odd Fellows) with the term ending December 31, 1886.  The report reveals the inner workings of one of the many fraternal organizations that were in Tombstone.  It lists the names of the eleven brothers of the Past Grand Degree, sixty-three brothers of the Third Degree, one brother of the First Degree, and two brothers of the Initiatory Degree.  The names listed are a virtual who's who of Tombstone at the time.  It is comprised of many miners, businessmen, politicos, and even some local peace officers.  The report gives the dollar amounts taken in and expended for the Lodge and is hand signed on the last page by G.S. Bradshaw, J.F. Kearney, B.A. Fickas, and Wm. D. Monmonier.  A very important and impressive Tombstone document. This string-tied booklet has 20 prenumbered pages and some are blank. My photos show the front and back covers when the booklet is closed (9 ¾”H x 3 ¾” W) as well as some photos taken with the booklet open (9 ¾”H x 7 ½”). The front and back cover photos appear pink in color but they are not.
This collectible item is in very good condition.
